Mad Max: Beyond Thunderhome is the twenty-eighth episode of Season 4 of The Thundermans and the ninety-ninth overall. It first aired on May 25, 2018 to 1.30 million viewers, as part of a series finale marathon.[1]

Plot

Summary

Max finally declares his independence from his parents' house rules and moves to his friend's house, where they only rule is that there are no rules; ultimate freedom quickly becomes more than Max can handle. After Max moves out, Billy, Nora, and Chloe try to win Max’s lair.

Main Plot

Max wants to build a hot tub in his lair but his parents don't approve. He secretly enlists Gideon to help dig for the tub in the lair but he's busted by Barb and Hank. They tell him that as long as he's living under their roof, he has to follow their rules. Out of options, Max decides to move out and live at Gideon's grandpa's house where there are no rules. Max starts building his hot tub at Grandpa Giddy's.

Meanwhile, Phoebe has been testing out the different effects of various spices and peppers on her Heat Breath. However, she has to do it secretly because her parents are concerned that some peppers might have some terrible, negative effects. Cherry helps her hide the peppers from her parents. But now, with Max gone, all the parents' focus is on Phoebe, meaning that she can't get away with anything. Phoebe tries to get Max back but after realizing that she can do whatever she wants at Grandpa Giddy's, she decides to move out too and live there with Max.

At Grandpa Giddy's, Phoebe orders peppers and shows Max how different peppers affect her heat breath. Max tries one out and starts farting fire. Phoebe tries another one and in the process the Thunder Twins accidentally cause the highly flammable fuel powering the hot tub to catch fire. They try to put out the fire without much success. Admitting that their parents were probably right about the need for rules, the twins move back in. Grandpa Giddy comes over to stay at the Thundermans for a couple of days while his house is being fixed.

Sub Plot

Now that Max is out of the house, Nora, Billy and Chloe want to take over his lair as their game room. However, Dr. Colosso- who's still sad that Max left him - refuses to let them all use the lair to play. He says that only one of them can use the lair. So, they must compete for it. Colosso takes the kids through a series of challenges and eventually asks them to bribe him.

After realizing that Colosso's competition is a sham and that it's driving a wedge between them, the kids agree to give up the lair. Besides, anyone of them winning the lair would be useless because they were looking for a place to play together. Their friendship is much more important.
